NSD1166 How to Send One Time Password Via Google Talk

Situation

Send One Time Passwords via Google Talk instead of SMS

Solution

Prerequisites: Nordic Edge One Time Password Server installed and configured to use SMS to send OTP.

1. Decide in which attribute you want to store the  the users googletalk –address. In this case we store it in the attribute ”street”. Please make sure that you add the prefix GOOGLETALK; in the begining av the value.

2. Create an extra database and change the OTP attribute to street and add street=* to your Search FILTER END.

3. Create a database group and include your original database and the new one for google talk. Make sure to move the new one to the 1st one in order.

4. When your’e done configuring your database group please make sure your client points to your new database group and not one of your databases.

5.  Go to Instant Messaging page and configure Jabber. Please make sure you use GOOGLETALK; as prefix. Create gmail-account at gmail.com that will act as the OTP sender (you  cannot send chat from  yourself to yourself). In our case we have created an account at Google called OtpSenderMyCompany@gmail.com. Please make sure you only type the username not the domain, gmail.com.
